Color Love: Greenery

Pantone just announced their 2017 color of the year - Greenery (Pantone 15-0343).  The color is meant to symbolize new beginnings and after what a crazy year 2016 was, I'm sure many are looking forward to just that!  From paint to pillows, main colors to accents, it can be used in many ways throughout the home.  Here are a few rooms that feature the color Greenery that I personally love.  Enjoy!

I love using purple and green together and this combination of shades feels fresh and unexpected.

This has LONG been one of my favorite kitchens.  Using a bold color in a small space makes such an impact.  How fun would it be to cook in this space?

I love a dark and moody room. This green chaise lounge provides a fun pop of color and looks great with the turquoise chair and gold light fixture.

I feel like you could never wake up on the wrong side of the bed in this room!

Check out this pop of Greenery inside a kitchen cabinet and on the banquette around the table.  What a great way to bring a little happiness into a kitchen.

These curtains make a real statement.

Updating a Rental Apartment

I wanted to share a recent project I worked on involving a rental property.  My clients approached me about updating their rental unit in the South End of Boston.  Their existing long time tenants had broken their lease, so they felt it was the right time to give it a makeover to appeal to new tenants and update it for 2016.  It's a beautiful one-bedroom apartment with some lovely original details including a ceiling medallion and large bay windows.  I worked with them to select new paint colors, update light fixtures, replace the outdated hardware, add new window treatments, and purchase a new refrigerator for the kitchen.  My clients are so happy with the results - it feels fresh and contemporary.  Below are a few before and afters to showcase what a difference a few updates can make.  These were taken on my iPhone so no judgement!

In the living room, we painted the existing yellow walls Coventry Gray and the wainscot Simply White , both by Benjamin Moore. The new light fixture from Rejuvenation  can work with both modern and traditional styles of decor.

The kitchen is open to the living room so we painted the walls Benjamin Moore Dior Gray which provides a nice accent to the adjacent Coventry Gray walls.  We also updated the hardware on the cabinets and replaced the old refrigerator with a new Whirlpool.

In the bathroom, we swapped out all the dated brass hardware with chrome fixtures from Moen . We replaced the awkward single sconce above the sink with a triple sconce and the clunky medicine cabinet with a streamlined, simple mirrored one.  We also painted the walls Cosmopolitan by Benjamin Moore and added new shelving above the toilet from The Container Store . This room really needed some love and the updates made it feel so much cleaner and modern!
