Heading Home to Dinner Wrap-up

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a quick wrap-up of the Heading Home to Dinner dine by design event I participated in last month. The event was a celebration of tables and bar carts by the Boston design community to raise awareness and money for Heading Home, whose mission is to end homelessness in Greater Boston by providing a supported pathway to self-sufficiency that begins with a home, together with critical services such as life skills, financial literacy, and job training.

In total the event raised $100,000 for the charity - pretty incredible considering this was the first year holding the event!  I'm honored to have been a part of it and to have contributed to that total by auctioning off my own bar cart to one lucky winner. A HUGE thank you to Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Boston for donating their beautiful Melrose bar cart to me to use for my cart.  Below are a few photos of my bar cart taken by the talented Sabrina Baloun of Sabrina Cole Quinn Photography.  Enjoy and we hope to see you next year!

Color Love: Icey Blue

Lately I've found myself being drawn to photos of rooms using this icey blue color.  While cool in nature, it can be warmed up through it's surroundings.  It's much more sophisticated than a standard baby blue and can feel both modern and homey under different circumstances. Here are a few photos using the color. Enjoy!

I love how the blue makes a statement in this modern dining room, however, doesn't take away from the architectural details on the ceiling.  I also love the off-centered bold piece of artwork.  It's certainly a cooler space (especially with no rug) but I really like the vibe and would happily enjoy a meal here. This beautiful sofa provides the icey blue in this Connecticut living room. The olive green walls and natural textures throughout, in particular the sisal rug and cream colored drapes, warm up the space, making it the perfect place to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book. The vanity and tile floor brings in the icey blue color to this bathroom.  It feels so crisp and clean, but definitely cool.  To warm it up, I might swap out the chrome fixtures and hardware for brass.  Still a beautiful bathroom that I'd love to have in my own home. Image:  Frog Hill Designs

This room is pretty monochromatic with the icey blue walls and turquoise bedding.  The upholstered headboards and drapes really soften up the room and the faux deer heads provide a fun twist to a more traditional space. Image:  Bear Hill Interiors

I love painting ceilings an unexpected color, and this blue provides just that in this pretty neutral room. I actually painted the ceiling in our old condo a similar shade of blue and loved it! Image: Wolfgang Stahl via Domino

Last but not least, this kitchen brings the blue in via the retro Smeg refrigerator and accessories.  It's also a fun and unexpected way to add some color to a kitchen. Image:  Mia's Interiors
