Color Love: Teal

I've been working on my final project for my certificate program at the Boston Architectural College, which will feature lots and lots of jewel tones.  So I've been staring at some really gorgeous fabrics over the last week and am using that as my inspiration for this month's color post.  Teal is a color that I don't use a lot but that I'm warming up to more (and using as the major color in my living room scheme for the project).  For some reason it reminds me of the 90's which is not a decade I want to remember for clothing or decor, so I'm pushing myself to bring together a plan that really elevates this color (for me!)  Lately I've been seeing it used in lots of beautiful ways in the design world.  Here are some rooms that I think bring teal to a new level. Enjoy!

Here it's used on an accent wall in a bedroom. Without it, the room would feel much more muted (minus that bench at the end of the bed).  Not to mention I love this bed. Image via Ave Styles

Emerald Green with Envy

I've decided to focus my first blog post of the month on color. I know it's Fall and everyone is probably into the red, orange and yellow hues that naturally come to mind this season, however, I've been feeling emerald green for some time now and am dying to use it somewhere, most likely when I finally recover my vintage Paul McCobb dining chairs.  Here are some green rooms that I think are super cool.

I love this mid-century inspired sofa in an emerald green velvet.  The artwork, plant and walnut side table make this room so moody to me (in a good way!) Image via Article .

This accent wall is in between an emerald and hunter green, but I love how bold it looks with the citron colored sofa and wooden console table.   Image via Bolig Magazine .

This is a whole lot of room (and maybe a tad too over the top for me), however, I really like the emerald green and leopard print combo. Image via Brit & Co.
