Color Love: Teal

I've been working on my final project for my certificate program at the Boston Architectural College, which will feature lots and lots of jewel tones.  So I've been staring at some really gorgeous fabrics over the last week and am using that as my inspiration for this month's color post.  Teal is a color that I don't use a lot but that I'm warming up to more (and using as the major color in my living room scheme for the project).  For some reason it reminds me of the 90's which is not a decade I want to remember for clothing or decor, so I'm pushing myself to bring together a plan that really elevates this color (for me!)  Lately I've been seeing it used in lots of beautiful ways in the design world.  Here are some rooms that I think bring teal to a new level. Enjoy!

Here it's used on an accent wall in a bedroom. Without it, the room would feel much more muted (minus that bench at the end of the bed).  Not to mention I love this bed. Image via Ave Styles

Finally here it is paired with a mint green and chartreuse.  This color combo is super cool! Image via Domino

Color Love: Lavender

Tomorrow's impending snowstorm has me dreaming about Springtime, so I thought I'd feature a pretty pastel that reminds me of blooming flowers in the Spring - Lavender.  I love any shade of purple but lavender can be so versatile.  Here are a few of my favorite rooms using the color lavender. Enjoy!

How sweet is this little girls room? The canopies and the coverlets made from Raoul Textiles  are beautiful but not too fussy together.  And I love the double twin bed look - perfect for sleepovers. Image via House Beautiful .

This bathroom is oh so French. I really applaud people willing to paint their walls unique colors like this shade of lavender.    Image via Gravity Home

A more modern use of the color lavender, this time in these sleek upholstered dining chairs.  I love that this complementary color scheme only uses plants to incorporate the green opposite purple on the color wheel. Image via Remodelista

Here is another dining room using lavender chairs.  The traditionally of this room is basically the opposite of the room above.  Still lovely! Image via Traditional Home

Another lavender bathroom. I could see this being used as a Jack & Jill bathroom between two guest rooms.    Image via This is Glamorous and Style at Home
