I am excited to share one of my favorite projects from last year! This family hired me to help furnish their new home in Lexington. Their style was more modern with an eclectic edge and Asian influence. And they were just so awesome to work with - trusting me along the way and being great partners in the design of this space. They had lots of great accessories and some existing furnishings we were able to play with which is always a plus. Today I'm sharing photos of their living space and next week will reveal their master bedroom. Voila!
The living and dining room were open to one another so the blue and yellow/chartreuse color scheme stretched through both of these rooms. We painted the walls a blue-gray-green and used woven wood roman shades in both to connect and warm up the space.
We decided to use the client's existing leather sofa and accented it with chairs in a variety of shapes, colors, and textures including a chartreuse velvet swivel, caramel leather accent chair, and marine blue wool womb chair. I wanted to use a vintage Persian style rug in the space and opted for one from my favorite Etsy rug vendor in a smaller size to keep us in budget. We layered that overtop a Jute rug to fill out the space.
In the dining room we worked with Saltwoods to create a custom table. My clients really wanted to do a live edge (something I typically shy away from), however, this one is just AMAZING. Even better in person. I love how they worked with this piece of Cypress, in particular waterfalling the edge on one side. Just so cool.
I also found this chinoiserie style China Cabinet for the corner - the black finish really pops in the space. I love how the wool rug from CB2 brings in pops of yellow while the vase and bowl from Lekker pull in the aqua color from the rug in the living room.
Moving onto the family room, I wanted this room to feel more casual and comfy. We painted the large accent wall a slate blue and the remaining walls white. We accented this with pops of orange, citron, and blue along with black, white, and gray neutrals.
The sectional from Crate & Barrel can easily fit this family of 3 for movie nights. A round table and Eames style chairs provides a great spot for breakfast or lego building while the open shelving gives plenty of storage for toys, books, and other decorative objects.
The carpet tiles are from Flor, a brand I often use in family spaces due to their durability and fun patterns. The blue pillows and ottomans are from Lekker while the orange pillows were designed by my client.
I'll be sharing their master bedroom next week in a separate post which is still colorful yet calm and serene. I can't wait! I hope you love this project as much as me as it was certainly a highlight of my year.
