So Cal Cool

I was paging through the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living when I came across a spread featuring the coolest Southern California home.  I keep coming back to it because it's so hip and minimal, but feels comfortable and warm as well.  The owners are clearly cool too - the husband is a musician and the wife is a trend forecaster...whatever that means!  She described the home as "family-friendly, bohemian, and not too precious, but with a definite edge."  I think she hit the nail on the head.  And after days of swooning over it, I realized that Amber Lewis of Amber Interiors was the designer - now wonder I love it!  Here are some pics I took with my iPhone (unfortunately I can't find the images online to repost).  And here is a link to the project within Amber Lewis' portfolio.  The images are just as beautiful there, but I always love seeing how a home is really lived in, per the showcase in MSL.  Enjoy!

This is the photo in the opening spread.  The vintage leather chairs bring that edginess to the room while the sofas and pillows are more bohemian.  I love the rug too!   Compare this to the photo in Amber's portfolio here and you'll see how different a room can feel just by showing it more "lived in".

I love the casualness of this custom sofa in a linen that looks like a denim.  A layered rug look is always a great way to add texture to a room.

Framing a cool poster is a great way to add art to a room, especially if it's meaningful to the homeowner.  That being said, there's still no way I'm framing my husband's old beat up Red Sox posters in our living room ;)

A few more photos of the gorgeous kitchen, the dining area, and another framed vintage poster.

The daughter's room is pretty in pink, but feels sophisticated and like a room they can grow into.
